WESTERN Saab in Perth is bringing a new, fast-paced format of golf to the region.
The Edinburgh Road dealership is sponsoring the first “PowerPlay Golf driven by Saab” tournament in Scotland. It is being hosted by The Green Hotel Golf and Leisure Resort in Kinross.
The 2011 Green Hotel Open takes place on Friday, September 9 and offers a revolutionary, new two-flag format for golf which has been endorsed by many of the top Tour stars.
Played over nine holes, with two flags on every green, golfers use a limited number of “PowerPlays” to score extra points when aiming at the harder Black Flag, creating exciting risk-and-reward decisions on each tee.
Yesterday, Neil Miller, general manager at Western Saab in Perth, said: “Saab is the official sponsor of PowerPlay Golf and we are delighted to be supporting the very first tournament of this kind in Scotland.
“We are looking forward to introducing this new and challenging format of play to the visitors and players at The Green Hotel Open and welcoming them to a premium, luxury venue.”
As part of Western Perth’s support, the dealership is teeing-up a range of high value prizes, including offering one player the chance to drive away in a Saab 9-3 Convertible.
The first player to tuck away a hole-in-one on the par-three, third hole of the course, will be rewarded with the keys to the iconic soft-top.
In addition, the dealership is also offering prizes for the first player to sink a tee shot on the par-three, seventh hole.
Prizes include a four day golf holiday for two at the five-star Le Meridien Penina Hotel and Championship Golf Club in Portugal, in addition to a two day golf holiday for four at The Belfry and a set of Callaway Razr X Irons.
The dealership will also be displaying a range of top of the range vehicles at the event.
Martin McAvoy, resort sales manager at The Green Hotel, said: “We are thrilled to be hosting our annual Green Hotel Open in conjunction with PowerPlay driven by Saab.
“The event heralds a new, exciting and challenging format for golf here in Scotland and we are expecting in excess of two hundred players and spectators to attend.
“We would like to thank Western Saab in Perth for their support and we are confident that the PowerPlay format will be a huge success at The Open.”
PowerPlay Golf was launched by Saab at The Celtic Manor Resort earlier this year in an event which featured some of the biggest names from the world of golf.
