Blair golfers take second place in Scottish event

AYRSHIRE club Ballochmyle clinched the Scottish Club Championship title for the first time, leaving defending champs Blairgowrie settling for second place.

Blair bagged the runners-up spot thanks to former Scottish Amateur champion Glenn Campbell’s rounds of 70 and 68, supported by Stuart Graham’s 71 and 76 and George Brass with cards of 73 and 74 at Falkirk Tryst.

Ballochmyle welcomed an inspired performance by former Scottish Mid-Amateur champion Craig Hamilton with rounds of 65 and 66 for a superb nine under par individual aggregate of 131.

They finished four shots clear of 2001 champions Blairgowrie, with Angus club Edzell in third place on 285.

Back at Blairgowrie, the club is hosting the Ballathie Mixed Open on October 31 and November 1.
