THE U18s travelled to Garnock in Ayrshire to play a National Bowl fixture.
Despite being a smaller side, Perthshire put pressure on from the start and were rewarded with a try soon after kick-off from Mark Jackson, who also scored in the second-half.
Craig Hodge and Stewart Seaton also figured on the scorecard.
All Shire’s scores were out wide – and that was were they were superior to Garnock who were winning most of the rucks and stealing a lot of possession.
Calum Campbell stood out for the amount of effort and work put in.
Final score – Garnock 0, Perthshire 32.
Tomorrow, the team travels to Forrester in Edinburgh for the next round of the Bowl. The bus leaves Bell’s at 10.30am sharp.
The game will be at the John Lloyd Leisure Centre – not at their club.
U17: This is the first game for the team at this age level, The idea is to retain more of the players who find the jump from U16 to U18 a bit much and drift away.
The club are trying to get this age group started but being low on numbers many of the lads will play tomorrow and on Sunday.
The game on Sunday is at Perth against Dumfries and kicks-off at 2pm. Supporters would be welcome.
Players to meet at 12.30pm. Phone W. Patterson on 07767407047 if any questions.
U16: Last Sunday, they made a rather wintry trip to Carnoustie for a league game against Angus Colts.
On a pitch supposed to be “wet but playable,” there was a one inch covering of snow.
In poor conditions, Angus Colts outplayed both Shire’s forwards and backs, with a final score of 32-0 to the home team.
They can look forward to a return clash, in better conditions, at Perth.
There's no game tomorrow. Training resumes next Wednesday at 6.45pm.
U15: The boys have a home cup game against Highland. All players should be at the club at 10.45am sharp for a noon kick-off.
