Perthshire Touch in third week

THE annual Perthshire Touch competition is now in its third week and the competition in the Social and Super Leagues is hotting up nicely.

In the Super League, the teams have just reached the half-way stage and the teams from Scone, Dollar, the UnTouchables and Stepbrothers have only three points separating them.

Scone were lying third last week but with three wins over the U15s Wildcats, Blown Away and Dollar, they now top the table with the UnTouchables second.

They had two good wins in their last games and have a game in hand.

Stepbrothers face both top teams next week and team captain, PJ Milne, was optimistic: “The team is playing well and we are just peaking at the right time in the tournament.

“We have identified the weaknesses we need to exploit against the top two and we aim to take maximum points next week.”

The Social League, where teams must have a minimum of two female players, have also reached the half-way stage and favourites Glenalmond, last year’s winners, are finding it tough this year.

They are currently third and are trailing Team Emma (the Development Team) and the Provost Select.

The title decider might be the final game next week when Glenalmond take on the Select side.

A mention should be made of “The Future Past It” team who are the current Perthshire P6 mini team and some of their dads.

Despite their tender age they have stunned some of their adult opponents with their passing and running skills and have run many of the teams close.

Teams who have still not payed their entry in full are reminded that all monies should be paid next week.

THIS Sunday will be the final Minis’ rugby session this season and all are invited to attend the planned Fun Day.

All present will take part in a series of organised games and activities and there will be a chance to try out the newly-released game of Street Rugby, which is starting to be rolled out across the country.

The session will begin at 10.30am and will finish at 11.45am.

Those attending are reminded to bring plenty of fluids on the day.
