A NEW approach to the Perth and Kinross secondary schools' rugby league will come into play, when the 2009/2010 league matches begin today (Tuesday).
School teams will now meet to play several games at the one fixture, during four different events to be held on the North Inch in Perth.
This new arrangement is being introduced to help reduce transport costs to teams, who would previously have had to travel to various different venues, and to make it easier to play games throughout the winter, by using the floodlit pitches on the North Inch.
The first fixture in the league, sponsored by the Highland Perthshire Sports Trust, will be for senior pupils. It will take place today, between 2.30–5.30pm.
The event will be run by Perthshire Rugby Club's rugby development officer with support from the Council's School sport development officer, teaching staff and club representatives.
