Perth schools claim rugby sevens titles

THE NEXT generation of rugby stars showcased their talents during a sevens tournament held on Perth’s North Inch.

S1 and S2 pupils from the Community School of Auchterarder and Crieff, Kinross, Perth and Blairgowrie High Schools were in action – as well as a pair of sides from Perth Academy.

The event was organised by the Perthshire rugby development team, supported by staff from Perth and Kinross Council.

Perth High claimed the overall S1 title.

Perth Academy finished third overall and produced a string of good performances.

Meanwhile, the S2 Academy squad impressed in the pool stages beating sides from Blairgowrie, Crieff and Kinross to set up a derby final with Perth High.

Academy opened the scoring and, although their Fair City opponents levelled, the blues crossed the line three times in the second half to win the tournament.
