Perthshire Rugby diary

IT HAS been a productive couple of weeks off the pitch for the rugby development team here at Perthshire Rugby.

First of all we have completed and distributed our coach information packs to all the youth coaches at the club which included club guidance on child protection as well as health and safety, incident reporting and attendance monitoring.

This pack is now a massive tool in equipping our junior coaches on how they govern their activity with their respective teams.

We also held a meeting on Monday evening to discuss the recent restructure of development and give a presentation on our current and future initiatives to grow the game at club and regional level.

There was also an opportunity for coaches to speak out on what they think development should be doing for them and the 17 strong group all agreed on two action points which development are now keen to act on.

Firstly is how we continue to grow the numbers, although the player pool is now greater in the region with the introduction of the P&K Interschool League; we are still not seeing huge results from that.

As such I will be discussing with the Community Development Management Group on how we can best make the club more attractive for these players out there playing for their schools.

The other action point was to increase our efforts for one to one coach development. One of our future initiatives is to launch a “Coaching Academy” at the club where new and existing coaches will be given specific guidance on their session planning and delivery.

We will also work hard to ensure all coaches are at least UKCC Level 1 qualified and through a continued development program try and get most up to UKCC Level 2 standard.

If you are interested in coaching or volunteering at the club then please do not hesitate to contact me directly on 07545817529.

On the field preparations are underway for the return of the P&K Interschools league.

Fixtures recommence on February 15 with Kinross playing The Highlanders at the North Inch at 4.30pm under lights.

Perth Academy will also be in action against Auchterarder and Creiff High will face Blairgowrie.

Why not show your support for your local school and attend?

Details of upcoming schools fixtures and their league standing will be posted on our website www.perthshirerfc.co.uk
