MATT Potter, captain of the Glenalmond College 1st XV rugby team, has been awarded a scholarship to study at the University of Vermont once he completes his A-levels.
Matt intends to major in History, and minor in English and Politics, and the scholarship will continue through all four years of his degree.
The scholarship has been awarded on the basis of Matt being an "exceptional student", taking into account his academic ability and his sporting and all-round achievements at Glenalmond.
Currently leading the Glenalmond 1st XV in a successful season, Matt plans to continue to play rugby, which is popular at college level in the USA, and hopes to be selected for the University of Vermont's first team.
Huw Thomas, Matt's housemaster (Patchell's House) and 1st XV coach at Glenalmond, congratulated Matt on his success.
“Matt has worked hard to earn this scholarship, and it reflects his commitment in the classroom, on the field and as a member of the Glenalmond community. We wish him well in his studies in Vermont and look forward to hearing of his continuing success there.”
