Rugby Development Diary

IT’S that time of year again for the annual Easter camp to be held at the club.

The camp will take place from Monday to Friday next week.

There will be two camps – one for mini/midi and another for youth players.

The mini/midi camp will run from 9am to 3.30pm and will incorporate a mix of skills and rugby as well as non rugby games.

It is open to kids from P4 to S2 and the cost is £15 per day or £60 for the week.

For the youth players, similar to October, this will be a performance camp based on Scottish Rugby’s key national themes and will also incorporate skills sessions, speed sessions, basic strength and conditioning as well as small-sided games.

This is open to 14 to 17-year-olds and the cost is £10 per day or £40 for the week.

These camps are supervised by qualified coaches and first aiders so you can be sure that they are having fun in a safe environment.

For an application form please contact Derek on 07545 817529 or derek.oriordan@gmail.com.

Applications for next year’s SVQ Community Coach programme have also begun to come in and interviews will be held in May.

If you wish to have the chance to join the rugby development team and gain a worthwhile vocational qualification, please contact me as above and I will be happy to discuss your application with you.

As for rugby news, Perth High is catching up on league leaders Crieff in the Perth and Kinross interschool league at S3/4 level and with only a couple of catch up games left to play let’s hope a Perth team can knock Crieff off top spot.

In the S1/2 tournament Perth High are also in action on the North Inch against the Sports Comprehensive.

This will be a mouthwatering prospect of a game with the Sports Comp desperate for a win after their strong showing against Crieff two weeks ago.

Sticking with the Sports Comprehensive, Perthshire Rugby Club are proud to announce their official affiliation to the school.

As an affiliated club our links to the school are strengthened not only through the sessions we provide but we now have priority access to facilities at the new campus.

This affiliation is yet more proof that Perthshire Rugby Club are striving to develop strong links in local schools and within the community.
