A POPULAR Perthshire multi-terrain race yesterday renewed a major deal with its backers.
Organised by the Strathearn Harriers, the annual Crieff 10K has secured sponsorship from the Famous Grouse Experience for the second year running.
Due to take place on Sunday, July 13, the event benefits from being a Scottish Athletics permit event and attracts a healthy turn-out every year.
Fittingly, next week’s race will be started by the whisky firm’s famous mascot ‘Gilbert’ who, although he will not be participating in the race, will be running ‘in spirit’.
Not content with lying back, the Grouse mascot will also hand out post-race awards.
Yesterday, the sponsors’ marketing manager Beth McMillan said the Glenturret-based attraction was delighted to be providing financial support.
“It’s important for us to develop closer links with the local community,” she said.
As an added incentive to prospective runners, all Crieff 10K competitors will be invited to attend a discounted tour at Glenturret Distillery.
