Scottish Hill Climb event kicks off through Dunning

THIS year’s Scottish Hill Climb Championship will take place this Sunday on the outskirts of Dunning village on the Path of Condie Road.

A total of 47 competitors are down to contest the event which starts at 1pm and runs 1.1 miles long.

Perth United entrants are Stuart Moran, Mathew Hamilton and Shaun Reiche. Full report next week.

Kicking off on Sunday, October 19, is the winter training runs for past, present and possible new members.

If you would like to ride in a group and can manage 17-18mph, then please join them at the South Inch car park at 9.55am.

Although not compulsory, a safety helmet is advisable for runs of this nature, which will take in the roads of the Carse of Gowrie.

THE Perth City Cycles downhill team’s season has come to an end on a successful note.

The team formed in 2007 is made up of nine racing members who take part in the NPS and SDA Series held throughout the UK, each event attracting up to 500 competitors.

PCC enjoyed success last year with Tony Tsoumalts, but this season it was the talented William Herd who shone.

William finished a superb third place overall in the youth section is the SDA series.

PCC also have 11 racing members competing in the ever popular SXC Mountain Bike Series and various events throughout Scotland.

Brian Garriock finished a brilliant second place in the SXC Vet Series and John McLagan finished a respectable 10th in the tough Masters Division.

The endurance season is about to come to a close, more details to come in a future PA.
