Good performances in Petrofac League

SOME great athletic performances were witnessed at the George Duncan Athletics Arena on Sunday.

Perth Strathtay Harriers hosted the second Petrofac League match of the season at the Perth track.

Overall, the men finished in second place and the women in third. The sprint relay teams did well with a number of wins for Perth.

Under-11 girl Megan Roberts competed well in three events with Lewis Forsyth doing equally well in the 200m and 800m events for the boys.

In the older age groups, N Guest won the under-13 girls long jump with a leap of 4.22m. L Dawson won the 75m H and L McLarty won the 800m for the under-15s.

In the under-17s, E Dawson won the triple hump 10.68m being the best jump of the day.

There was a good turn-out of senior women competing, notably the excellent performances by C Anderson and S Peddie in the 800m.

In the under-13 boys age group, a 200m win for C Ritchie in a time of 28.7 sec. was a highlight.

The under-15 boys events saw wins for G Taylor in his hurdles 'B' event and 200m 'A' event. E Holmes also had a good day with wins in his long jump and 200m 'B' race.

A great hammer throw of over 30m by D Coultart won the under-17 competition.

In the seniors, wins for B Gibb in the 200m and D Todd in the long jump finished off the day for the Perth club.
