MOST Perth Road Runners are gearing up their training for the championship season ahead or stepping things up for the April marathons.
Marianne Crichton began her racing season at the Kirkintilloch 12.5km race last Sunday.
A hilly race boasting a 408m ascent, enough to make the most ardent runner wince, didn’t faze Marianne who finished in a great time of 64mins 41seconds.
The club are hosting their ‘Lark in the Dark’ handicap race on Tuesday.
This is popular event is exclusive to club members and the fastest runner doesn’t always win.
The requirement, apart from wearing a head torch, is that each runner predicts their finishing time over the route.
Runners get a chance to study a map of the route beforehand but are not allowed to wear a watch during the race. Meet at the Jubilee car park at 6.30pm.
Meanwhile, entries are going well for the Heaven and Hell Half Marathon and the club are now looking for volunteers to help behind the scenes on the day.
This would be ideal for club members who aren’t going to be running and have some free time. If anyone’s interested, contact Susie Lockett through the club website or at training sessions.
The club championship and summer series races have been finalised with one or two spare races awaiting confirmation.
Check the club website or the notice board at Bells for the updated list.
