Perth runners keep on moving

THE marathon weekends are over for now – but Perth Road Runners members are still racing.

Four runners took part in the annual Edinburgh to North Berwick race last Saturday.

The event is normally 22 miles but was restricted to 20 miles this year due to traffic management considerations.

On a sunny yet windy day, Erni Hamilton, Rhona McBean, Clare Frulloni and Tom McLevy stepped into action.

Erni was first PRR home in 2hrs 29mins 47secs, which also saw her finish as first in the over-45s female category.

Rhona was next in 2:45:26 – third in female over 35s – Clare 2:56:38 and Tom 3:05:50.

Robert MacDonald was the only one of a number of members at the Edinburgh 10k race on Sunday to run it and finished in 46:50, beating his daughter, who was ahead of him at 5km, in the process.

Other members were there as race marshals.

In addition to taking part in races, the club are also supporting a number of top events by providing marshals to help ensure a well-organised and enjoyable race for the participants.

It is a great day out for everyone, with the club benefiting from additional funds and the marshals get lunch and a free jacket from the sponsors as well as the opportunity to encourage those taking part.

To join this friendly club, you should make your way along to the Bells Sports Centre any Tuesday night at 6.30pm for training.
