Dear Editor, – I am in complete agreement with Mr John Bullough's letter of December 12. I have many fond memories of the City Hall in its heyday, but I would rather see it razed to the ground than turned into yet another shopping mall with cheap outlets and stalls and/or restaurants or cafes which we have in abundance already....

Dear Editor, – Your reporter and correspondents (PA, December 16) almost suggest that only a big kick is required to “knock down” the City Hall, whereas in fact the demolition of this great building would be an immense job, entailing not only site clearance but also vast works to the infrastructure and environment, costing a minimum of £4 million – before provision of whatever may be needed for the area’s future use – generating nil revenue. Neither Mr Bullough nor any of his supporters tell us where this expenditure might come from....

Dear Editor, – As a Perth expat, now living in Glasgow, I have many fond memories of the City Hall from my youth in the late 50s up until the 70s before I left Perth....

ANY move to flatten Perth City Hall and create a public square in the heart of the Fair City would ultimately require consent from Historic Scotland....
